BRIDGES AND CLOUDS MEDITATIONS ON IMMIGRANT LIFE
About the Show
This three-week long gallery show is part of a project conceived by Diego Melgar, who attends the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Diego was born in Peru and came to the United States when he was 5 years old.
Diego is composing a piece of music that is a meditation on his identity – that of a Peruvian child and as person who came to know and experience the United States as his home. The piece will be performed by seven musicians on the night of the gallery show opening on February 22, 2018.
Call to Artists
We are looking for work by artists who also immigrated to the United States as a child or as a youth. The work should similarly speak as a personal meditation on their identities as a young immigrant and as a person who has come to know the US as their home regardless of legal status.
Please send us hi-res images of your work that you would like us to consider, dimensions of the work and a little bit about yourself to http://www.spacemountainmia.org/contact.html no later than February 14th. The work must be ready to be installed on February 21st. If any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at the above web address.
