INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
Film Screening of
WARRIOR WOMEN (2018)
Black Rose/Rosa Negra Miami invites you to a screening of WARRIOR WOMEN (2019)
In the 1970s, with the swagger of unapologetic Indianness, organizers of the American Indian Movement (AIM) fought for Native liberation and survival as a community of extended families.
Warrior Women is the story of Madonna Thunder Hawk, one such AIM leader who shaped a kindred group of activists' children - including her daughter Marcy - into the "We Will Remember" Survival School as a Native alternative to government-run education. Together, Madonna and Marcy fought for Native rights in an environment that made them more comrades than mother-daughter. Today, with Marcy now a mother herself, both are still at the forefront of Native issues, fighting against the environmental devastation of the Dakota Access Pipeline and for Indigenous cultural values.
The film is part of a bigger ongoing initiative known as the Warrior Women Project (WWP), an innovative collaboration of community based scholarship, media, leadership development and grassroots activism that provides a forum for Indigenous activists to tell their stories for the benefit of future generations. You can find more information about the project at warriorwomen.org.

FILM SCREENINGS OF
GOLDEN SIDE OF THE TRACKS (OVERTOWN) & LIBERTY SQUARE: POWER, HISTORY & RACE
&
A FUNDRAISER FOR
ANNIE COLEMAN PUBLIC HOUSING RESIDENTS FIGHTING DISPLACEMENT IN BROWNSVILLE
DSA Miami & Miami Tenant’s Union invite you to a film screening and fundraiser for Annie Coleman Public Housing Residents Fighting Displacement
EVENING PROGRAM: This month's film screening will discuss the local history and impacts of gentrification on the Black community in Miami through two short documentaries: Golden Side of the Tracks (Overtown) and Liberty Square: Power, History, & Race in Miami. We are also raising funds to help Annie Coleman Public Housing residents fight against displacement and gentrification. Ms. Rose Adams, leader of the Annie Coleman Resident Council, will speak about the displacement of their residents & privatization of public housing in Brownsville.
WHAT’S HAPPENING IN BROWNSVILLE: Last fall, residents of the Annie Coleman 14 Public Housing project, located in the historically Black community of Brownsville (home of Hampton House), were told that they would have to move due to health & safety reasons w/o warning. Their housing & other public housing throughout Brownsville have been marked for redevelopment & control by private developers - using government money. Not only were these claims of emergency found to be baseless, relocation assistance offered left much to be desired & left them vulnerable to homelessness. The residents were facing permanent displacement from their own community as they were offered no right to return to the redeveloped housing or to Brownsville, itself. The public housing residents organized for the first time! The Annie Coleman 14 Resident Council spent all fall fighting for the residents’ right to come back to their own community & receive the housing supports they need in the meantime. They pushed for a relocation agreement with the county, but still have no assurance that the new housing will be designed for families so they can come back. They have no confidence that the county will recognize residents as the leading voice in their community rather than those of outside forces. The Annie Coleman 14 Resident Council continues to fight to make sure residents do not become lost in the shuffle of relocation & that the existing Brownsville community leads, not falls victim to, the redevelopment of Brownsville.

We invite you to the closing of
TENDERHEADED, an exhibit by Margo Hannah and Esdras T. Thelusma
The night will include a screening of the film LIBERTY by Faren Humes.
The screening of Liberty will begin promptly at 7pm, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker and artists.
TENDERHEADED is a visual art experience exploring hair and identity. Its main focus is a collaborative series of portraits and photographs by creative director and stylist Margo Hannah and photographer Esdras T. Thelusma. Hair is deeply rooted in the identity of black women but black hair has always had a hard time finding its place in American society. Despite its tangled history, black hair has always been innovative and unapologetic. TENDERHEADED aims to capture how black hair operates as a method of self-expression and individuality. It also seeks to normalize hairstyles that would otherwise be considered "ghetto" or "classless" due to its nonconformity to European beauty standards.
LIBERTY follows the story of a friendship during a time of a community’s displacement. Best friends Loggy and Alex have been neighbors their entire lives in Miami’s redeveloping Liberty Square. Their friendship comes under stress as Loggy discovers her mother’s memorial has been confiscated and learns that Alex is being displaced and relocated to another community so that their longtime neighborhood, Liberty Square, can be razed to create a new housing complex.

MIAMI DSA FILM FRIDAYS: MACHUCA (Chile 2004)
In Machuca, Andrés Wood delivers a powerful and touching story about friendship—its importance, its potential for redemption, and its ability (or inability) to withstand pernicious influence.
The film occurs in the months that precede the 1973 army-led and CIA-backed coup d’etat against President Salvador Allende. In the progressive spirit of the times an improbable relationship develops between Gonzalo Infante and Pedro Machuca—Gonzalo is a member of Chile’s elite; Machuca comes from a Santiago shantytown. Their friendship deepens as the political situation reaches its terrible denouement.

Join Miami DSA for a screening of In the Intense Now. Narrated in first person, the film reflects on that which is revealed by four sets of images: footage of the French students' uprising in May of 1968; the images captured by amateurs during the invasion of Czechoslovakia in August of the same year, when forces led by the Soviet Union put an end to the Prague Spring; shots of the funerals of students, workers, and police officers killed during the events of 1968 in the cities of Paris, Lyon, Prague, and Rio de Janeiro; and the scenes that a tourist—the director's mother—filmed in China in 1966, the year of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.
Food, drinks, live music, and conversation included.

Seeking Pleasures, a FIU student club, is about sexual inequality in its present day and seeking equality for all people of all sexualities and genders. The term sexual inequality in this context refers to the complete disregard of other sex acts, including fingering, nipple play, and other forms of non penetrative sex, as well as different sexualities. Seeking Pleasures will dispel the myths that society instills in people from a very young age, educate people about how we got to this point through a look at our history, and provide a safe place where people can talk about their preferences without being judged and, even more so, be accepted as an equal.
Sexual Health Alliance Revolutionizing Positivity (SHARP), a FIU student organization, is dedicated to improving the sexual wellness of students in a sex positive and educational environment. We strive to create a loving community by promoting sexual health, self care, and inclusivity.

O, Miami Poetry Festival Presents
CALL AND RESPONSE: THE ROOTS OF COMMUNICATION THROUGH VOICES IN NUMBERS
April 13 @1 pm to 4 pm
An O, Miami Workshop led by Miami musician Alexandre Merbouti and filmmaker Monica Sorelle exploring the history and use of Call and Response in music and poetry.
Call and Response is a form of interaction between a speaker or leader who "calls" and second individual or larger group that "responds" to the speaker's call. In music, it occurs when a phrase is written in response to another, or when two different instruments rhythmically mimic each other. When in full effect, the call and response method can be used to emphasize a feeling and evoke a powerful sense unity through voices in numbers. In this workshop, we will explore its different uses throughout history and how it has evolved from one of the most basic forms of communication still being used around the world today.
The goal of this workshop is for the attendee to leave with a better understanding of the power and history of the call and response method and to feel inspired to express themselves through new forms of communication. We will start with a few recorded examples of the earliest forms of call and response mainly in African culture where it was used in celebrations, funerals, and other sacred or community based demonstrations. We will then look at how it's implementation into religion and how its influences have shaped modern music and poetry today. With the help of a few local choir members, we will demonstrate different types of call and response methods across several cultures, and end in a full participatory experience where we invite you to perform a piece with us.

"WHAT IS YOUR PEACE" WORKSHOP
ReGeneración Colombia visits South Florida with our "What is your Peace?" workshop! (Español abajo)
Conflict and its collective resolution applies to each of our families and all of our communities. Each of us carries trauma from our own lives and that of generations before us. Our workshop is an opportunity to explore creative and interactive methods of rage and reconciliation.
Our workshop will center around community building with those in attendance through story-telling and performance. We will begin with introductions of each participant and explain the origins of ReGeneración as a movement for empowerment of those who have been invisibilized for generations. We will then discuss our children's book project - "Cual es tu Paz?" - and form small groups to act out "sociodramas", spontaneous performances that challenge us to utilize all parts of our selves to identify, confront, and resolve conflicts within our environment.
You are invited! And you are welcome to bring a friend who cares about these issues. Also, you don't need be Colombian. But some Spanish will help.
More details on ReGeneración Colombia and what we are doing, take a look: www.regeneracion.co

ReGeneración Colombia visita el Sur de Florida con nuestro "Cuál es tu Paz?" taller! (English above)

Gray Collective welcomes rising Tokyo-based talent, Machìna, for her Miami debut; as part of our Mixed Media live performance exhibition and symposium. Fresh from her back to back visits to SXSW, and on the heel’s of her sophomore LP, Archipelago, Machìna touches down during the busiest time of the year for electronic music. Her live sets are heavy on analog-y goodness; a labyrinth of multi-coloured cables, and kaleidoscope of LEDs, punctuated by her ephemeral vocals slicing through the air, all make for an exceptional experience, flawlessly executed by an equally exceptional artist. @yeoheemusic

We continue with our th the Miami debut of Daniela Huerta b.k.a Baby Vulture also makes her Miami debut. The Guadalajara Mexico native, comes to us by way of Berlin; with work spanning various fields, including performance art, sound production, and multimedia projects. She is the embodiment of the discerning digger; in an almost archeological manner, Huerta digs for distinct sounds she can incorporate into the transportive sound collages that are her DJ sets. She seeks to find variables and errors which allow her to explore distinct territories that she later breaks apart, combines and assembles together, creating her own fragmented language. As a talented artist & co/founder of @perm_records, Huerta is not only a person who displays an incredible amount of artistic excellence, but is an archetype for how the future of electronic music can be moulded. @baby_vulture

ONE STRUGGLE
Organize for What?
With all of the election frenzy we’ve heard a lot of calls to organize over the last few months. But what does that mean… to organize?
Obama, Oprah - influential and inspirational figures have sounded the trumpets for us to cultivate our collective power. Do we hand that power over to candidates who continually sell the people out, absorbed by capitalist interests?
Capitalism is in crisis. Violent manifestations of this fact are becoming more frequent in American culture. Fascism is blossoming across the globe, motivated by a structural crisis of capitalism. More and more people are experiencing first hand the desperation of living in a system whose only concern is the accumulation of profit for the capitalist class. The planet is reaching the limitations of its ability to sustain the exploitation of industry. Capitalism has lost any of its progressive veneers.
Here in the US, we’ve become isolated and disorganized… making us powerless to provide any meaningful resistance.
We - the people dominated and exploited by capitalism/imperialism - are the only hope for an end to the madness, but where to begin?
We begin with each other.
Join One Struggle as we lead a discussion on our conception of what it means to organize.
For us organizing is the basis of structures for a new society. The way we organize and grow now must be independent from capitalist interests and ideology if our actual aim is something different from this current arrangement.
We'll discuss what it means to build organization based on political unity, people’s varying levels of commitment and consciousness, towards an independent mass movement capable of resisting capitalism, imperialism and fascism.
Stand Up. Fight Back. ORGANIZE.

Pool Kids:
Adolescent Angst is given a mature and heartfelt edge in "Erso", the first single from Pool Kids' upcoming album Music to Practice Safe Sex to. The Tallahassee, Florida "kinda mathy", mostly just impeccably intricate indie band is the brainchild of Christine Goodwyne. Goodwyne knows what it means to be feminine and fed up, as her frank and unapologetic lyricism is paired with a distinctly impassioned vocal delivery, speaking to an emotional experience of frustration and exhaustion many can relate to. Such lyricism and delivery can of course only be met with equally as intense and emotional of music. That's exactly what can be found in "Erso" as roaring guitars meet thrashing percussion, crafting swaths of noise large and dense enough to get lost in. -Delaney Motter, Phluff

JUANMA TRUJILLO
joined by
Fernando Ferrarone - Trumpet
Dion Kerr - Bass
Arturo Garcia - Drums
Performing work from Trujillo's latest album EL VECINO (The Neighbor)
releasing on June 11, 2018
Venezuelan guitarist/composer Juanma Trujillo has been living in New York for four years and has since become an active member of the jazz, improvised and experimental music scene of the city. Trujillo has developed a playing aesthetic that embraces many of the idiosyncrasies associated with the electric guitar but manages to create music that doesn't depend on those practices to succeed.
On his first album as a leader (El Vecino ® 2018), Trujillo presents a set of original music that creates environments for improvising that are set up to keep both the subject matter of the compositions and collective dynamics of the group at the center.

WTF IS HAPPENING? CAPITALISM IN CRISIS
https://www.facebook.com/OneStruggle/videos/954996724650455/
Hosted by One Struggle (http://onestruggle.net/)
Join One Struggle for a presentation and discussion about capitalism in crisis and the need for a movement against this economic, political and social arrangement.
2017 was an insane year… but it seems like each year gets exponentially crazier. Capitalism is a hot mess!... or more precisely, it’s facing a structural crisis, with no real solution.
Because of its constant need to expand markets, cut costs, and increase profits, every element of life must be commodified under capitalism.
This is why we see the public education system and net neutrality being gutted. It’s why politicians are passing “tax plans” that only benefit the rich; Why Florida governor Rick Scott would risk contaminating all of Florida’s drinking water supply to build the Sabal Trail natural gas pipeline. It’s why social welfare programs, our libraries and parks are under attack. And why inequality is at an all time high everywhere, as imperialism expands global capitalism.
It’s also why we see the rising affirmation and consolidation of fascist ideas and a range of fascist organizations.
Any progressive veneer that capitalism used to be able to pull off is being eliminated, out of necessity for capital accumulation.
We face a very volatile and serious moment in time. But moments of crisis also hold great potential for change. We need to gather our forces and construct a progressive, diverse and autonomous movement of folks who recognize that capitalism is our common problem.
Whether you’re a student, teacher, artist, service employee, environmentalist… whether you’re just starting to question capitalism, or you’ve known it’s the problem, let’s get it together, and get organized.
It's all One Struggle.

WORKSHOPS AND CLOSING EXPERIMENTS FOR "AN EXORCISM OF THE DOMESTICATED WILDFLOWERS"
INSTALLATION BY ALICE AND WIDOW
In coincidence with the International Noise Conference and to culminate their multimedia installation, "An Exorcism of the Domesticated Wildflowers", Widow and Alice (Heaven Limousine/Lilumnia) will be facilitating several individual & collaborative workshops at Space Mountain Miami. The artists present these workshops with a shared intention to pose the imminent bridge between art/creative work & spiritual healing by inviting any willing participants into an intimate experience with their own practices.
Friday, Feb 9, 4 pm: CREATIVITY AS A GATEWAY TO THE ENSPIRITED UNIVERSE

She invites all workshop participants to bring their own ideas of how their creative practice interfaces with their spiritual development as part of an ongoing dialogue.
Saturday, Feb 10, 4 pm: LOVE IS EXORCISM: GUIDED HYPNOSIS

BRIDGES AND CLOUDS: MEDITATIONS ON IMMIGRANT LIFE
Music & Art
Bridges and Clouds: Meditations on Immigrant Life is a personal meditation on identity: as an immigrant who came to the US as a child or youth and as an adult who has come to know the US as their home now.
PERFORMANCES
Bridges and Clouds: Meditation on Immigrant Life
Composed by Diego Melgar
Fernando Ferrarone, Trumpet,
Chris Thompson-Taylor, Tenor Saxophone
Justine Noel Garcia, Vocals
Sean Hannon, Upright Bass
Zander Ambrose, Drums,
Arturo Garcia, Percussion
Diego Melgar, Guitar
The composer immigrated from Peru at the age of 5.
Joined by
CHAMA (NYC)
Leonor Falcón: Violin, Viola
Juanma Trujillo: Guitar
Arturo García: Drums
https://chamaband.bandcamp.com/album/chama
CHAMA (Spanish slang used in Venezuela and Nicaragua for young girl) applies a garage band aesthetic of composed and improvised music, drawing influences from rock, avant-garde, swing and Latin American music.
Leonor, Juanma and Arturo first started as young musicians in Caracas/Venezuela who migrated and reunited 15 years later in the US.
ARTISTS
GERMAN RUIZ
From the artist:
"In times of great need, migration may be necessary.
My parents fled Nicaragua with me when I was only 2 years old. Though I have spent a great majority of my life in America I have never known what it means to feel American. I also don't know what it means to belong because my native country is just as foreign to me as any other place I've never been to.
I have never felt quite at home anywhere. My work deals with this sense of displacement through the constants in my life. Family keeps me grounded as well as the traditions and drives they have instilled. These photographs are an exploration of work, ritual, and uncertainty. They help me gain an understanding of my fractured identity."
YAMEL MOLERIO
Faded Memories
From the artist:
I left Cuba when I was nine years old and this has influenced me in creating these paintings. Most of my memories of Cuba are from old black and white photographs. I have not been back to my homeland since 1980 and the only way I have seen the Cuba of today has been in images from the internet. Just like photographs get old and fade, these memories will also one day disappear.
My artwork is figurative with a strong sense of narration. My paintings incorporate overlapping components of different size papers, canvas pieces, fabric, and wood. The process reminds me of old clothes and objects patched up and utilized instead of discarding them. This is the reality of the Cuban people; due to their harsh economic situation they are forced to restore. It also symbolizes how different events shape your life. The stapling in some of the pieces represent stitches and the scars of the past. The background of my paintings are filled with holes, peeling paint, cracks, and different shades of gray and white. This is a reminder of the deplorable shape Cuba is in. The distressed walls show pain and abandonment. If walls could talk, they would also tell a story."

MOLDOVER
”A musician at heart, inventor born of curiosity, and innovator by necessity, I believe the world calls him the 'Godfather of Controllerism' for damned good reasons." - John Tackett, Crowd Wire
History notes only a handful of artists who successfully pushed the limits - both with their music and with the design of their musical instruments. What Bach was to the keyboard and Hendrix was to the guitar, Moldover is to the controller. Disillusioned with “press play DJs”, Moldover fans eagerly welcome electronic music’s return to virtuosity, improvisation, and emotional authenticity. Dig deeper into Moldover’s world and you’ll uncover a subversive cultural icon who is jolting new life into physical media with “Playable Packaging”, sparking beautiful collaborations with his custom “Jamboxes”, and drawing wave after wave of followers with an open-source approach to sharing his methods and madness.

Rumor by Moonlight

Zigtebra is the lo-fi synth pop project of underground creative duo Emily Rose and Joe Zeph. After meeting in the Chicago LGBTQ feminist dance troupe Pure Magical Love, they began collaborating and encouraging each other to push their personal creative limits. Zigtebra started as basement performance art— musicals about the invented childhood of Leonard Cohen, operas about bike thievery, private shows of throbbing heartache, all while hiding behind crude paper maché masks. In 2017, Zigtebra indulged their fascination with glittering pop and began making a new song and music video each month. Each video lives on YouTube and embedded in their website world here, which is a crawl through oddity, sex appeal, and charming intrigue. It's earnest in a way that is so damn charming, it’s hard not to like them.
Zigtebra has opened for OH WONDER, Wild Belle, The Dö, Picture This, The Blow, EMA, Jamilla Woods, and Calvin Johnson.
They're currently traveling on their 2018 winter/spring tour. Slide into their DM's with city/venue requests.

HOBBY HORSE (Italy)
w/ TIGER'S MILK
HOBBY HORSE is a progressive/experimental/crossover jazz trio based in Italy, figurehead of the rapidly developing new Italian jazz scene, but equally comfortable playing underground rock venues and dance clubs. During 6 years of intense activity they have released 5 records to widespread critical acclaim and their touring schedule has seen them performing in important festivals and clubs throughout Europe and North America including Umbria Jazz, Jazzwerkstatt Graz, Sudtirol Jazz Festival, Ton Art Tirol, Saxstall, Skylark Chicago, Jazz Estate Milwaukee and Ausland Berlin.
Their music is a wildly unpredictable mix of styles, a melting pot of musical languages ranging from slam poetry to techno to psychedelic bossanova, prog rock, hip-hop and chamber music. Passing from hypnotic drones to violent explosions of noise, they manage to maintain an underlying sense of balance, shared exploration and discovery, sculpting their sets into an overarching form which maintains artistic coherence despite (or perhaps due to) the drastic contrasts it contains.
‘...extremely original and unpredictable, sophisticated and powerfully visceral...one of the most intriguing and unique groups on the Italian scene.’ - Neri Pollastri, Allaboutjazz
‘...Energetic and overpowering, an uninterrupted collective flow.’ - Roberto Pavaglianiti, Strategie Oblique
‘I expected much, and I got even more: telepathic interplay, languid and subtle jazz with shadings of pop (including a delicious version of Nick Drake’s ‘Three Hours’), burning accelerandos, startling interpretive choices. And an unbelievable unity, something essential and pure in the group sound which was a simple joy to hear. Hobby Horse is among the very best that Italy has to offer.’ - Luca Canini, Allaboutjazz
‘...each door opens onto a different universe: enchanted or terrifying, schizophrenic or delicately balanced, each time it takes you by surprise.’ - Giovanni Cetorelli, DHIDM
www.hobbyhorse3.com
Tiger's Milk is a group coming out of Miami. With a fresh new sound, the band consists of Arturo Garcia on drums and percussion, Dion Kerr on bass and Derek Fairholm on electric piano. Their mix of original tunes brings forth a versatile and dynamic blend of tightly written compositions, theme and variations as well as free improvisation.

Must RSVP to [email protected] in order to attend.
// Full Descriptions //
ORGASM FORUM
The Orgasm Forum is a space to share candid discussion about the pleasures and politics of sex. Most importantly, we will talk about how to explore and expand our pleasure. This methodology is participant-driven and conversation-based, but respects that people share only as much as they want to. And of course, while this event is called Orgasm Forum, we will discuss all types of pleasure; we don’t think orgasms are the be-all-end-all of sexual experience, but we think they’re a fine place to start.
In the spirit of communion, we ask that you bring your personal story and any resources that have helped you with your sexual exploration (sex toys, lubes, erotic literature, porn).
NAKED AS YOU WANNA BE DRAWING PARTY
The Naked As You Wanna Be Drawing Party is a figure drawing session in which participants are invited to get as naked as they like and take turns drawing and posing. This space is about celebrating a diversity of bodies and our own! Pro-illustrators and novices are encouraged to attend. We will do a few drawing exercises at the beginning of the session and then the space will be open for people to take turns posing. Please bring your own drawing supplies.
***IMPORTANT NOTES ON THE EVENTS***
-These are two separate events and each has a limited capacity. Please RSVP to [email protected] for the event you would like to attend. If you would like to attend both, please specify that in your email.
-Please confirm only if you can arrive on time and stay to the end of the event. We will not admit anyone who arrives more than 15 minutes late.
-You can RSVP for one or both sessions
-You may only attend the event if you confirm beforehand. Please do not bring anyone who has not confirmed.
-We all work together to create a safer space. No judgments, no policing.
-The facilitator reserves the right to ask anyone who is being disrespectful to leave.
-These events will be conducted in English but translation will be available to Spanish upon request.
-We welcome discussion of sexual assault and sexual violence, but the facilitator does not have formal clinical training to address these experiences.
-The space is accessible to people in wheelchairs.
-Suggested donation $5-10 but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
//
The workshops will be facilitated by Melina Gaze, who helped develop them in collaboration with sex education collectives in New York and Mexico City and has facilitated dozens of sessions for diverse communities in The United States, Europe, and Mexico.
If you have questions about these events, please feel free to write to [email protected].

A SCREENING OF THE DOCUMENTARY BUDRUS
In Recognition of International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
Hosted by Miami Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), Broward DSA, Jewish Voice for Peace and Friends of Sabeel
In recognition of International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Miami DSA, Broward DSA, Jewish Voice for Peace and Friends of Sabeel invite you to a screening of the acclaimed documentary, Budrus. It takes a Village to Unite the Most Divided People on Earth.
In 1977, the U.N. General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.
To 70 years after the partition vote and to mark the 40th International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People we will screen the award winning documentary "Budrus"
While this film is about one Palestinian village, it tells a much bigger story about what is possible in the Middle East. Ayed succeeded in doing what many people believe to be impossible: he united feuding Palestinian political groups, including Fatah and Hamas; he brought women to the heart of the struggle by encouraging his daughter Iltezam's leadership; and welcoming hundreds of Israelis to cross into Palestinian territory for the first time and join this nonviolent effort. Many of the activists who joined the villagers of Budrus are now continuing to support nonviolence efforts in villages from Bil’in to Nabi Saleh to Hebron to Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem.
While many documentaries about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict either romanticize the notion of peace, or dwell entirely on the suffering of victims to the conflict, this film focuses on the success of a Palestinian-led unarmed struggle.

Salon with Jillian Hernandez
A conversation about Miami Rococo and Reinas Del Azucar, an installation by Helen Maureen Cooper & Rosemarie Romero celebrating the political-aesthetic expression of radical chusmeria - being too loud, too sexual, too queer - as a model for pleasure, empowerment, and feminist resistance.
Jillian Hernandez, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Ethnic Studies Department and Critical Gender Studies Program at the University of California–San Diego, independent curator, and community arts worker. Her transdisciplinary research investigates questions regarding processes of racialization, sexualities, embodiment, girlhood, and the politics of cultural production ranging from underground and mainstream hip hop to visual and performance art. She is currently working on a book about the Miami aesthetic and Rococo.
Afternoon teas, coffee and pastries will be served.

WHERE ARE THE LESBIANS
A Monthly Party
7 pm: Screening of D.E.B.S in original form
9 pm: Party with Porn Nail$™
This month we celebrate the political-aesthetic expression of radical chusmeria - being too loud, too sexual, too queer - as a model for pleasure, empowerment, and feminist resistance. October's party is being held within the Reinas Del Azucar gallery installation by Helen Maureen Cooper (Chicago) and Rosemarie Romero (Miami), coupled with the re-imagining of the 80's film D.E.B.S re-imagined by Ebony Rhodes and Fabiola Rodriguez.
Rosemarie Romero's Porn Nail$™ is a mobile interactive queer-feminist nail salon. By wielding humor, nail polish, glitter, and flamboyant color, Rosemarie explores aesthetic politics of gender, race, class, women's work and sexuality. Clients are provided with manicures, gossip, intimacy, and friendship in exchange for juicy conversations about sex, love, and work specific to their locality. Using nail lacquer, embellishments, and collage elements, these nails function as a code for flaunting exotic-otherness, cultural hybridity, and shared assimilation into queerness through flamboyant color. Porn Nail$™ is radical chusmeria..
Door proceeds benefit
Aqua Foundation for Women, empowering the lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community in South Florida through grants, scholarships, and special initiatives. http://www.aquafoundation.org

NO BORDERS: SOCIAL STRUGGLES ACROSS THE USA
Screening and Fundraiser
hosted by
Black Rose/Rosa Negra Anarchist Federation Miami
You are invited to attend a screening and fundraiser for “No Borders: Social Struggles Across the USA,” an 11 episode web series created by a Chilean media team which spent months traveling across the US to learn about social movements and the daily resistance to capitalism. Twelve cities are covered: New York City, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Oakland, Fresno, Los Angeles, Tucson, and Flagstaff. The series was created by Sur Negro Productions based in Chile in collaboration with members of Black Rose/Rosa Negra Anarchist Federation (BRRN) in the US.
We will also feature musical performances by St. James, Vlad of Unity Rise and Ryan of The Barely Damned.
The event will have snacks, drinks, popcorn and merchandise for sale.
We are asking for $10 at the door (no one turned away) and all proceeds will benefit the film makers and to help our lovely venue, Space Mountain Miami, continue operating.

SPACE COMMUNITY GATHERING, CELEBRATION AND OPENING FOR “LOOK BACK”
Please join us for a gathering with food and drink to celebrate and thank the artists and community groups who are bringing Space Mountain alive in its new home and welcome folks who will soon be making Space their home too. Come celebrate, meet and learn about each other.
We are also excited to be opening a new gallery show on this evening. “Look Back” brings together work from nine artist collaborations which took place at Space Mountain while located in Little River between December 2013 and February 2015
We will be joined by Porn Nail$™, an interactive installation & performance project by Rosemary Romero that functions as a mobile queer-feminist nail salon. Employing tropi-camp performances and latinx kitsch, Rosemary creates humorous social encounters and cultural exchanges that address issues of race, gender, class, women's work and sexuality. Porn Nail$™ is a political-aesthetic expression of radical chusmeria - being too loud, too sexual, too queer - as a model for pleasure, empowerment, and feminist resistance.
Porn Nail$™ was included in the “Let's Talk About Nicki Minaj: A Rococo Side-Show/Salon artist collaboration curated by Jillian Hernandez at Space Mountain, Little River in 2014.
Please invite folks!

Divide & Dissolve are sick of venues not having enough power to ignite their colossal wall of amps. They are also sick of the sexism, racism and overall fuckery that dominates the heavy music scene and the world. DREAM SMALL
OPENING CEREMONY
with performance by Interloper
Dream Small, an exhibition, aims to build a narrative through environmental story telling as a means to reflect a downtrodden social-political landscape one can see the United States morphing and oozing into.
The Dream Small exhibition with be open to the public April 8th, the opening event will encapsulate the spirit of democracy with S. Birdmann's announcement to run for Clerk of the Circuit Court. A former Nestark chairman, Birdmann will be sharing his views of a perfect unified Miami-Dade and how with a bit of work we can all make a change. During his short opening remarks, Birdmann will broach topics such as education, the problems with the judicial system, alternative means of legal immigration and opening a dialog with community members. There will be a Q&A, photo-op, and as well as a complementary handshake from our next (hopefully) Clerk of the Circuit Court. Complementary zine will be distributed while supplies last. We here as part of S. Birdmann's campaign team are also very happy to announce a new endorsement by Interloper, a wonderfully talented rock 'n' roll group, we look forward to them playing some tunes at the opening ceremony and spreading the message of progress.
"Words build bridges into unexplored regions."
The Dream Small exhibition will remain at Space Mountain throughout April and will host a number of events
during the month.

A CONVERSATION WITH JACQUENETTE ARNETTE
Thursday, February 9th at 7:30 pm.
Reception at 7 pm
Jacquenette Arnette’s provocative images build on her research in the Texas archives to locate and document still existing trees and structures upon which lynchings of Black Americans occurred. These acts of brutal violence, racial terror to suppress equality, are not only a part of a minority’s collective memory, but of our collective American history. Jacqui asks why these sites of historical significance are not memorialized. She joins a growing chorus asking that question.[1]
Space Mountain also asks this question by sharing Jacqui’s work here in Miami. Space Mountain is located blocks from Liberty Square, the first public housing development in Florida and the first designated for Black Americans in the United States. In 1937, a 7-foot wall was built between it and an adjacent white neighborhood in response to the white residents’ demands. The Wall remained for years, part of the Jim Crow era. The Wall later was torn down and its remnants designated historic in 2006. From 1900 to the 1930s’, Florida had the highest number of lynchings nationally. In 1935, during the period in which Liberty Square was under construction, Rubin Stacy was taken from the hands of Miami-Dade Sheriffs, carried back to Ft. Lauderdale and lynched by a Broward Sheriff-led mob for having knocked on a white woman’s door. We ask shouldn’t the history of lynching in our communities never be forgotten just as the Liberty Square Wall has been protected as a reminder of racial hatred and segregation?

OSKAR'S AT SPACE
David Leon (MIA) & Garrett Wingfield (DALLAS)
Jonah Udall's SHIFT (MIA/BERKELY)
David Brieske (MIA) & Richard Vergez (MIA)
Garrett Wingfield
Dallas/Fort Worth based performer and composer Garrett Wingfield’s musical journeys weave through a magnitude of different genres, aesthetics, and performance mediums. He is an alum of UNT's One O' Clock Lab Band where he was a saxophonist and arranger. Fulfilling his interest in the intersection of performance and composition, Wingfield leads, plays with, and composes for multiple working ensembles. His avant-garde jazz octet performs compositions and arrangements that feature highly orchestrated sections integrated with free improvisation. Wingfield and his working quartet regularly play original music and wildly re-imagined contrafacts on standards stemming from the Lennie Tristano tradition.
David Leon
David Leon is a Cuban-American saxophonist, woodwinds player, and composer living in Miami, FL. He currently leads multiple ensembles including his trio “#bicmnrosfulmfrenh”, which was recognized in Downbeat Magazine’s Student Music Awards in 2015 and 2016. He is an active member of the Miami jazz and creative music scene and continually seeks new sounds to inform his music. He is currently exploring Bulgarian folk music, microtonality, free improvisation and ways of uniting these seemingly disparate musical languages through conducted improvisation.
Jonah Udall
Jonah Udall’s SHIFT is an investigation of the process of evolution, a transient sonic ecosystem. Part-way between Steve Reich and Cecil Taylor, SHIFT creates spontaneous compositions with the economy of minimalism and a personality all its own.
performing in SHIFT:
Matthew Taylor - woodwinds
David Leon - woodwinds
Nanami Morikawa - voice
Jonah Udall - guitar
Lowell Ringel - bass
Arturo Garcia – drums
David Brieske
David Brieske’s solo project, Fsik Huvnx, creates atmospheres of ambient noise through the use of instruments, field recordings, tape and other media.
Richard Vergez
Richard Vergez is a visual/sound artist. He employs manual techniques such as tape splicing and photomontage to create minimal and abstract contemporary works, with a style firmly rooted in the Avant-Garde. Richard records and performs under the name Drowning the Virgin Silence, a musical project which explores electro-acoustic and post-industrial music, through the use of prepared tapes and manipulated sound.

ORGASM FORUM
4 to 6 pm
Bust into December with a badass celebration of sexual exploration and empowerment!
The ORGASM FORUM will be hosting a discussion Sunday, Dec. 11th from 4-6 PM.
The Orgasm Forum is a space for women*, trans* and gender-non-conforming people to share candid discussion about the pleasures and politics of sex. Most importantly, we will talk about how to explore and expand our pleasure.
In the spirit of communion, we ask that you bring your personal story, any resources that have helped you with your sexual exploration (sex toys, lubes, erotic literature, porn), and something to eat or drink!
Some notes on the event:
o This is a safe space. No judgments, no policing.
0 In order to keep this conversation intimate, we cap the event at twelve people. Please confirm your attendance with Melina ([email protected]).
o In order to respect the dynamic, we ask that you only confirm if you can arrive on time and stay to the vend of the event. We will not admit anyone who arrives more than 20 minutes late.
o You may only attend the event if you confirm beforehand. Please do not bring anyone who has not confirmed.
o This event will be conducted in English.
The Orgasm Forum will be facilitated by Melina Gaze, who helped develop the methodology alongside collectives in New York and Mexico City and has facilitated dozens of sessions for diverse communities in The United States and Mexico.
Hope to see you there, and please let us know if you have any questions.

CONFESSION ROOM
Kayla Tange (L.A.)
Interactive Performance
Friday, December 2
6 to 9 pm
In the Project Room
Over an 11-year period working in Vegas and LA as a stripper, a burlesque dancer, a dungeon submissive, a private and virtual dom, and lastly, a keeper of secrets, Kayla has encountered a wide range of people who revealed incredibly raw and vulnerable stories. These stories often came in the form of confessions.
Informed by her experience and her fascination with admission, Kayla created performances to engage the public in meaningful (often unspoken) dialogue around themes that are common to us all--sex, shame, longing, and connection. For the past two years she collected confessions through Confession Box (2015-2016) and A Bare Witness (2016), performances where public space became an interactive confessional--she exposed her own sexuality/vulnerability, allowing others to expose theirs.
Kayla has used these stories to create her latest multimedia performance installation, Confession Room. You will experience the most intimate of disclosures, because everyone has a story they don’t want to tell.
